On April 9th, Youth Week kicked off in Kambalda with a Hawaiian themed pool party. The kids looked every bit the part by dressing up in Hawaiian leis, putting on some groovy sunglasses and then posing for photos in front of the Tiki Bar with an infamous Kathie’s Krushie.
By far the most popular activity held at Youth Week was the Sunset Skate Competition. Over 40 children came down to the Kambalda West Skate Park to compete and then had the opportunity to showcasing their skills in front of a crowd and judging panel. Each rider was given three minutes to own the skate park and show off their skills, from bar spins to tail whips and the occasional brie. The Shire was fortunate enough to have St John Volunteer paramedics on deck to ensure the safety of all riders.
Local DJ Michael Aslin provided music and MC’d the event. The winner in each category walked away with a hamper full of goodies!
