The Shire of Coolgardie is proud to be a ‘small business friendly’ local government as endorsed by the Small Business Development Corporation.
This initiative, developed by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC), formally recognises local governments that are demonstrating, or working towards, ‘better practice’ in engaging with their small business community.
The Shire of Coolgardie recognises that the small business community is an important stakeholder. By signing the Charter, the Shire has committed to delivering the following benefits to local businesses:
- Small Business Workshops – Small Business Workshops are coordinated across the Shire on numerous topics that assist small businesses.

- Networking Opportunities -The Shire host several Networking Opportunities each year for Businesses to connect and engage where appropriate.
- One-On-One appointments with Goldfields Business Local through the Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce – the Shire will facilitate meeting sessions with Goldfields Business Local who offer advice and support in all areas of business operations.

Support for Small Businesses
- The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI) provides small businesses in the Goldfields-Esperance region of WA with free to low-cost advice, support and training to help them build and develop sustainable businesses. Their local business advisers understand the challenges small businesses face in the area. New and existing businesses may access advice and guidance on a range of business matters, including:
- starting a business
- planning for success
- marketing products and services
- employing and managing staff
- social media and digital marketing
- managing finances.
