The focus for today’s Toddler Time Group was vehicle child safety. Our guest speaker was Bev from Parenting Connections. Whilst the parents were learning the importance of safety, the children played in our stadium. Important points to remember before we break for school holidays are as follows:
- Buckle up every child on every trip
- Child car restraints must be Australian Standards AS/NZS 1754 standard
- Check correct fitting for child’s age and size
- Follow manufacturer’s instructions when using the child car restraint
- Check the history and age of second-hand child car restraints – ideally less than 10 years old and not involved in a vehicle accident
- Check that the child has exceeded maximum size limits on their current restraint before progressing to the next stage
