On the evening of October 2nd, despite a brisk wind and chilly temperatures, the Kambalda West Oval came alive with energy, excitement, and a healthy dose of competition as the Pop Up Touch Clinic kicked off..

Participants aged 12 and up gathered for an unforgettable night of touch rugby, led by none other than the talented Coach Player Rose de Thierry, a proud 2024 WA & World Cup Touch Representative Player.

The clinic, buzzing with anticipation, was a perfect blend of youth enthusiasm and community spirit. As players from all backgrounds and skill levels arrived. And did we mention it was all FREE? That’s right—an incredible opportunity to learn from the best without breaking the bank!

As the clock struck 6 PM, Coach Rose wasted no time in diving into the action. Participants quickly broke into teams for some spirited competition: Youth vs. Community! With her expert guidance, everyone learned the fundamentals of touch rugby, from the intricacies of running, passing, and catching to the art of evasion. Coach Rose emphasized the importance of teamwork and strategy, ensuring that players developed their skills.

The wind may have been fierce, but that didn’t stop the clinic from becoming a whirlwind of intense practice drills and friendly competition. Coaches and players alike showcased their moves, weaving through defenders, executing precision passes, and diving for tries. It was a night filled with skill-building, laughter, and a whole lot of fun, despite the chilly air!

As the clinic drew to a close at 7:30 PM, everyone left with more than just new skills; they walked away with a sense of community and a deeper appreciation for the game. Coach Rose beamed with pride, her passion for touch rugby evident in every interaction. “This is what it’s all about—bringing people together through sport,” she said, reflecting on the incredible turnout and participation.

So here’s to more nights like this—full of fun, fitness, and fabulous touch rugby skills, no matter the weather!
