Kasey Turner has quickly progressed from Administration Trainee to Executive Assistant in her short 15 months of working at the Shire of Coolgardie all while completing a Certificate III Business through Central Regional TAFE.
The certificate has taken 12 months to complete, and Kasey did it whilst working full time. Kasey said, “ It was challenging to complete a course while working full time and it took a large amount of time and energy. Trying to find a healthy balance was hard but to finally complete the course was a very rewarding feeling.”
Kasey applied for the traineeship through the Shire which allows the successful trainee to complete a fully funded Certificate through Tafe while working. The Shire of Coolgardie supported Kasey’s efforts by allowing time away from her normal work hours to complete work and the benefits for both Kasey and the Shire have been great.
James Trail, CEO for the Shire of Coolgardie is full of praise for Kasey as an employee; “ Kasey has gone from strength to strength in a very short time and it’s been a pleasure to watch her grow with each challenge. We are very lucky to have her on board and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
Kasey has this to share with those thinking about studying towards a Certificate III in Business “ If you are thinking of doing a similar traineeship, I would say that you should let go of whatever is holding you back and take that next step! As hard as it can be to complete a traineeship, it is so rewarding and allows you to move forward with more knowledge than you stepped in with. Even if you are unsure of what you want to do career wise, having a Certificate III in Business opens a wide variety of job opportunities and teaches you knowledge that can be used in many jobs, specifically those in administration.”
The Shire congratulates Kasey in her achievement!
