Yellow, yellow and more yellow to celebrate this year’s Daffodil Day Appeal, Cancer Council's most iconic annual campaign to raise funds for cancer research and help bring a cancer free future closer.
Daffodils are a symbol of hope for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. While the appeal has been celebrated annually since 1986, for the Kambalda CRC it was the first fundraiser event for the day but it sure won’t be the last with all the fun we have had raising funds in so many enjoyable ways.
Thanks to all your pre-orders we were able to sell 50 fresh bunches of daffodils for $10 each on Friday, 28 September 2020. What a better day with KWDHS's sports carnival bringing a crowd of spectators to the West Oval and our facility that Friday. In addition to the flowers we asked community members to have a go at picking a number between 0-500 flowers in the field and guessing the count of lollies in our “all yellow jar” full of sugar goodness for a gold coin donation kindly donated by the Kambalda East Deli for the good cause.
We added daffodil pin merchandise to the bunch and a colouring in competition for the younger ones. To all those having shared their cancer stories and experiences with us, thank you and more so for generously donating to the Shire of Coolgardie's Daffodil Day Appeal this August. With your help we have been able to raise a total of $ 625.10. What an amazing effort!
We couldn’t wait to announce our lucky winners of the competitions being held throughout the day and up until 11 October 2020.
Congratulations to Aymee Nunn, 5 years old from Kambalda who won the lolly jar with 223 lollies.
The cash prize for the closest guess of our 431 flowers in the field went to Carla Hadwiger from Kambalda.
The winners of our Daffodil Day Appeal colouring in competition in the categories
0-5 years – Eva, 3 years old and Ruby, 5 years old
6-10 ears – Miley, 10 years old
11-14 years – Name – no entrants
