Kambalda’s community 5km Spring Fun Run was held on Saturday 17th October with a great turn-out of runners, joggers, walkers, children on bikes and mums and bubs pushing prams and perfect weather to kick start your day.
This event appears to be getting bigger and better each year. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us in giving the fun run a go. For some it is an annual family event they enjoy doing together each year.
The run started from the Old Fire station in East Kambalda and finished at Lions Park, Kambalda West. Special mention of thank you to Mr & Mrs Mihal for allowing participants and organisers to use the front of their property to meet, register and brief everyone on the course.
There was laughter, encouragement and brave little children falling off their bikes and getting back on again to show they too can finish with a smile on their faces. Some of the children came over the finish line before the 3rd place getter of the social runners. Well done kids.
Thank you to our local Kambalda Police for assisting our participants in a safe road crossing, and at times the traffic was stopped to allow people to cross.
Tammee Keast and Jessica Poke of St Johns Kambalda, a big shout out to you for being there from start to finish ensuring that everyone was feeling ok and having the water bottles kept cool. You always knew where to be when needed and for been there when the 2yo’s suddenly decided that they did not want to be riding any more.
A small prizegiving with a FREE sausage sizzle managed by the Kambalda Men’s Shed was held back at Lions Park, with winners receiving the following places and sponsorship gifts –
Runners 1st place Jameson Vodden CHILZD Activewear
2nd place Wayne Marchese Sportspower Voucher
