Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre brought the A-Team this morning as a wide range of services and businesses descended upon the Kambalda Community Recreation Facility to deliver the annual Kambalda Women’s Week Expo.
Attendees were treated to everything from spinal and blood pressure checks to sound mediation one on ones and face to face chats with mental health service providers.
It was an interactive morning as Kayleigh from Goldfields Physio took a packed session of eager women through a 10-minute seated pelvic floor session with many commenting that it felt great.
Shire of Coolgardie Leisure & Recreation Development Officer, Estelle was on hand take people through a short yoga session and with the theme of wellness in mind Lynn Hazelton finished off the morning with a unique breath work exercise.
The highlight of the morning had to be an honest conversation about women’s reproductive health, the terminology and the stigma surrounding these subjects.
The room was abuzz with conversations, but they soon fell quiet as Kath started to speak.
Kath talked about her radical gynaecological cancer diagnosis at the age of 39 and her journey from feeling alone in those early days to then connecting and empowering other women who were in the same situation.
Kath has established the Perth-based Gynaecological Awareness Information Network. Since then, Kath has become a voice for the millions of Australian women managing polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, fibroids, menopause, sexually transmitted infections, hysterectomies and more.
The Shire of Coolgardie would like to thank Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre and all the services and businesses for bringing the event to Kambalda and it’s residents.
