DIY Gift making workshop - All about Honey

Who would have thought making your own reusable beeswax food wraps could be so easy and so much fun at the same time?

On Monday, 23 November a group of 25 craft loving community members of all ages followed our invitation to a workshop all about honey with local beekeeper Rebekah Lindemann from Lindemanns Honey presenting the ins and outs of honey making.

We were educated on the different types of honey being produced locally in Kambalda and got to experience what a beekeeper needs to wear to protect themselves but also the bees when sourcing the golden liquid. Some of us heard about the waggle dance for the first time and were pleased to have such a knowledgeable businesswoman answering our inquisitive questions.

What a better way to promote the Shire of Coolgardie supported initiative ‘Go Local First’ with Rebekah bringing in a range of her products available at a discounted rate to all attendees.

The beeswax food wrap making was a process of grating the beeswax and sprinkling it on the pre-cut fabric, melting it in a low temperature oven setting and brushing it evenly across before letting them dry and harden up. The feedback during and after the workshop was so positive, this is certainly one to be repeated in the new year. Many thanks to supporting local and attending the program.

If you have missed the opportunity and wish to get in touch with Lindemanns Honey, please contact them by phoning Rebekah on Ph. 0447 756 470 or via email info@lindemannshoney.com.au

We hope you get plenty of use out of your food wraps or get to wrap them up for your loved ones this Christmas. Until then, happy food wrapping.
