Despite the sweltering heat, kids from Coolgardie and Kambalda had an unforgettable two-hour roller-skating adventure at the Palace Theatre in Kalgoorlie, where fun, laughter, and friendly dodgeball competition ruled the day!
It was a blazing Friday morning, with temperatures soaring outside, but the excitement was high as the kids boarded the bus for their roller-skating trip to Kalgoorlie. The first pick-up was in Coolgardie at 10:30am, followed by another stop in Kambalda at 11:45am, before heading to the iconic Palace Theatre for a thrilling two-hour skating session.
As the children arrived at the rink, the heat inside was almost as intense as the summer sun outside, despite the air conditioning working overtime. But that didn’t slow anyone down! The kids laced up their roller skates, eager to get on the floor and have fun. Some were seasoned skaters, gliding effortlessly around the rink, while others were experiencing roller skating for the very first time – wobbly but excited to give it a go.
It didn’t take long for everyone to get into the groove, and soon the rink was buzzing with energy, laughter, and the sound of wheels racing across the floor. To take the fun to the next level, the kids introduced a new twist on dodgeball – roller dodgeball! With balls flying across the rink, the kids dodged and weaved their way through the action, trying their best not to get hit while maintaining their balance on skates.
Though the heat was intense, it didn’t stop anyone from getting fully into the game. There were plenty of falls, but each tumble was followed by more laughter and encouragement from friends. Whether they were skating with grace or tumbling to the floor, everyone was in high spirits, having a blast no matter what. The dodgeball game was a hit, with kids skating around at full speed, throwing and dodging balls while laughing through it all.
The time flew by in a blur of fun and friendly competition, with everyone supporting each other through their falls and celebrating each other’s wins.
After two hours of nonstop skating and dodgeball action, the kids finally boarded the bus to head home. Exhausted but with big smiles on their faces, they chatted excitedly about their favourite moments of the day. From the roller-skating thrills to the laughter-filled dodgeball games, it was a day full of great memories and friendships.
