A special works project undertaken by the Shire of Coolgardie in Kambalda West that spanned nearly two weeks has provided a safety boost for pedestrians.
The project centred on footpath repairs and construction to the New Town Creek pedestrian crossing adjacent to Stringybark Drive and Needlewood Street, as a major thoroughfare for many students and parents.
Shire President, Malcolm Cullen, is pleased to see the completion of this project.
“This project has been in planning for some time and it’s great to see it come to fruition to improve the access for students and their parents walking to school”.
The project was undertaken in two main stages, starting with the removal of a damaged crossover. The remainder of the work was spent constructing and installing the new crossover, with safety hand railings also installed.
Completed works have provided a much improved path and ease of general access, especially during inclement weather.
