The Shire has appointed the Western Australian Electoral Commission to conduct its elections by postal vote. Postal voting enables electors to submit their vote before election day. The counting of votes commences at 6 pm on election day and once the counting of votes has been finalised the result will be announced by the Returning Officer.
The Shire of Coolgardie ordinary election is being held on Saturday, 18 October 2025.
Who can vote?
Residents
All residents in a local government district who are enrolled on the State electoral roll are automatically enrolled on the corresponding local government roll.
Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers including Body Corporates
People who own or occupy property within a local government district, can apply to their local government to be included on the roll as a non-resident owner or occupier.
A body corporate may apply to nominate up to two nominees to be included on the owner and occupier roll.

How do I enrol?
Residents
Persons who are on the State electoral roll for an address within the Shire of Coolgardie are automatically enrolled to vote in a Shire of Coolgardie election.
When you enrol to vote, you are enrolled for Commonwealth, State and local government elections. You can check your enrolment online. To update your details, or check your enrolment; visit Australian Electoral Commission or the WA Electoral Commission website.
Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers
If you are a non-resident owner or occupier of rateable property in the Shire of Coolgardie and are on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, you may be eligible to enrol to vote.
If you are not on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll and own or occupy rateable property in the Shire of Coolgardie, you may be eligible to enrol to vote. This applies if you were on the last electoral roll for the Shire of Coolgardie prior to May 1996 and have owned or occupied rateable property in the district continuously since this time. Please contact your local government for details.
To apply to enrol as a non-resident owner, complete the Form 2 - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Owner or Co-owner.
Owners of land who were on the last Local Government roll continue to retain that status until they cease to own the rateable property to which the enrolment relates. Occupiers do not have continuous enrolment and should contact the Shire of Coolgardie to confirm their enrolment status. To be eligible to enrol as an occupier, you will need to have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument for at least the next three months following the date of the application to enrol.
To apply to enrol as a non-resident occupier, you must submit a Form 2A - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Group of Owners or Occupiers.
Joint Owners and Occupiers
If a rateable property is owned or occupied by more than two people, a majority of the owners/occupiers may nominate two persons from amongst themselves who are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, to enrol as owner/occupier electors.
If you occupy your property jointly with two or more people must also submit a Form 2B - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Group of Owner or Occupiers.
Corporations
A body corporate that owns or occupies rateable property may nominate two people who are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll to enrol as owner/occupier electors.
Nominees must be an employee of the body corporate. To nominate electors, complete all sections of:
Form 2 - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Owner or Co-owner and Form 2C - Enrolment Eligibility Claim - Nomination by Body Corporate.
Enrolment Forms
Enrolment forms are available online and hard copies of the enrolment forms can be obtained from the Shire Administration Offices, and must be lodged with the Chief Executive Officer either by email mail@coolgardie.wa.gov.au or hand delivered to the Shire Administration Offices.
